Release dates for “Insidious 6” and the sequel “I Know What You Did Last Summer” confirmed for 2025

The 2025 release dates for “Insidious 6” and the sequel to “I Know What You Did Last Summer” have been confirmed.

The latest film in the popular Insidious series will be released on 29 August 2025while the new blockbuster “I Know What You Did Last Summer” is July 18, 2025.

Next year will be a big one for horror films, as the release of M3GAN 2.0 has been pushed back from May to June, ahead of the anticipated sequel to Five Nights at Freddy’s, which hits theaters on December 5th.

That’s not all, though, as Danielle Deadwyler’s upcoming thriller The Woman in the Yard will premiere on March 28. Drop is set to be released on April 11, ahead of The Black Phone 2, starring Ethan Hawke, which hits theaters on October 17, 2025.

The latest Insidious film follows closely on the heels of last year’s “Insidious: The Red Door,” which became the highest-grossing film in the series.

The film, the fifth installment in the Blumhouse horror series, grossed $174.3 million at the worldwide box office, becoming the highest-grossing Insidious film.

The franchise will also spawn a new spin-off titled Thread: An Insidious Tale. In the new series, This Is Us actress Mandy Moore and Marvel’s Kumail Nanjiani play a married couple who travel back in time to prevent the death of their daughter.

Meanwhile, the new sequel to I Know What You Did Last Summer is the fourth version of the original film, which was released in 1997. Two sequels were released in 1998 and 2006.

The original film was about four young friends who, one year after being bonded by a car accident, were terrorized by a killer armed with a hook.

While details of the new film are currently being kept under wraps, it was reported last year that original stars Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. were in talks to reprise their roles as Julie James and Ray Bronson.

Insidious 6 will be released on August 29, 2025, while the sequel to I Know What You Did Last Summer will premiere on July 18, 2025.
