The surrounding streets were closed to traffic and rescue workers set up a safety buffer.

One block of Railroad Street and Griffin Avenue is closed due to a possible building collapse.

The red building between the abandoned car dealership and Rainier Beauty bulges out over the sidewalk, so “there is concern that it could collapse,” said Sarah Taylor, PIO of the Enumclaw Police Department, at the scene.

A 75-foot buffer zone has been established within the closed road.

Multiple agencies responded, including the Enumclaw Fire Department, Puget Sound Energy, the Department of Transportation (whether state or county is unclear), and the Washington State Patrol.

It is not known how long the roads will be closed.

How the current condition of the building was determined is unclear, but the first report came from the city of Enumclaw.

This is an ongoing story and will be updated as more information is released.
