On August 18, 2024, a sergeant with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office observed a vehicle traveling on Interstate 41 and conducted a traffic stop for several equipment violations. Upon contact with the occupants of the vehicle, the sergeant detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. This led to a subsequent search of the vehicle where a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia was found. As a result of the investigation, a female passenger claimed to be in possession of these items.
This passenger, a 23-year-old woman from Milwaukee, was initially arrested for aggravated possession of THC, a second and subsequent offense was possession of drug paraphernalia and bail jumping. She is currently out on bail from a case in Manitowoc County involving carrying a concealed weapon and possession of MDMA (commonly referred to as ecstasy). She is also currently out on bail from a case in Marathon County involving possession of amphetamine/LSD/psilocin and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Upon arrival at the jail following the traffic stop, the woman stated that she had additional drugs concealed on her person. The woman was turned over to jail staff and the additional drugs were seized. These additional drugs included a total of approximately 45 grams of crack cocaine and several Percocet pills that she possessed without a prescription. This resulted in additional charges of possession of cocaine with the intent to traffic and possession of a Schedule II narcotic with the intent to traffic. These charges carry a modifier for second and subsequent offenses as this individual has a prior drug conviction. Her bail was set at $5,000 cash and she is currently in custody.
Through further investigation in the days following the stop, it was determined that the driver of the vehicle, a 34-year-old Milwaukee man, was also involved in possession of the drugs. Charges of Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Traffic, Possession of a Schedule II Narcotic with Intent to Traffic, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Bail Jumping were forwarded to the Fond du Lac County District Attorney’s Office as this defendant was released from the traffic stop at the time the passenger was arrested. He is also currently free on bail from a Brown County case involving manufacture/trafficking of cocaine and bail jumping.
