Pen to Paper writing group provides inspiration and support for Irmo area writers

Pen to Paper, a monthly writing group at the Irmo Branch Library, has become a welcoming and supportive environment for local writers.

Community members participate in both silent workshops and discussions about challenges and successes in the design process. One participant, Mitch, said, “I can get out and be creative.”

The quiet space combined with encouraging, constructive feedback is ideal for feeling productive and inspired.

Pen to Paper allows writers to share their material and network with peers in a relaxed environment. While some focus on writing novels, others benefit from journaling, conducting research, or working on various other types of writing. No matter what point in the process a writer is at, Pen to Paper offers interesting literary perspectives while working through the details of their drafts with other patrons.

“Joining the group has been a great way to meet new people in the area and helps me focus on my creative side,” said author Kelly Pierce. “I like that I have a new community that understands the unique issues that come with being a creative writer.”

Pen to Paper was a positive resource for the group, allowing participants to gain insight into their writing while networking.

Writers of all levels, ages 18 and up, are encouraged to check out Pen to Paper. The Irmo Branch Library is located at 6251 St. Andrews Rd. in Columbia. The phone number is 803-798-7880 and for more information visit https://lexcolibrary.com.
