When I went to the cinema to see this Flash twiceI wasn’t quite sure what I was getting myself into. Of course, I knew that Zoe Kravitz Directed and the Channing Tatum had a leading role, but other than that the film was a bit of a mystery because I somehow managed not to watch any trailers.
Little did I know that I was about to have one of the most intense and thrilling cinema experiences of the year!
Flash twice is a great film. The story is strong, the script is tight and I was gripped from start to finish. This film doesn’t just invite you in – it draws you into its world and doesn’t let you go until the last frame.
The tension steadily increases, leaving you guessing and doubting at every twist and turn, and when the credits rolled, I was completely overwhelmed by the journey I had just been on.
What’s particularly impressive is that this is Zoë Kravitz’s directorial debut. And what a debut it is! Not only does Kravitz know how to tell a story, she also has a natural eye for visual storytelling.
She manages to create a visual language that perfectly complements the escalating tension of the narrative. I’m sure we’ll be seeing a lot more of her behind the camera in the future, and I personally can’t wait to see what she does next.
Kravitz also co-wrote the screenplay with ET Feigenbaum, who previously worked on the film High fidelity series. Together they have created a story that is as unpredictable as it is exciting.
The premise alone is fascinating: Tech billionaire Slater King, played by Tatum, meets cocktail waitress Frida, played by Naomi Ackieat one of his lavish charity galas. Sparks fly and soon Frida is whisked away to Slater’s private island where she will spend the vacation of a lifetime.
At first everything seems perfect. The island is a paradise, the nights are wild and the days are flooded with sunshine. But as the story progresses it becomes clear that something is very, very wrong.
The beauty of the island begins to feel overwhelming, the party seems never-ending, and Frida’s growing unease turns into outright fear as she begins to question her reality.
The twists come fast and furious, and just when you think you’ve figured it all out, the film surprises you with another surprise that leaves you stunned.
The highlight of Flash twice is pure, uncompromising madness. The tension that Kravitz carefully builds throughout the film reaches a boiling point, and when the shit hits the fan, it’s a fast-paced, no-holds-barred rollercoaster ride that keeps me hooked. The ending is as satisfying as it is unexpected, and left me and the audience on edge with excitement.
If you are a fan of crazy thrillers, Flash twice is a film you absolutely cannot miss. It is a wild, unpredictable and thoroughly entertaining experience that showcases Zoë Kravitz’s incredible talent as a filmmaker.
I had no idea what to expect when I went in and was incredibly impressed and completely satisfied. This is a ride you don’t want to miss.
