Kingsport man and woman arrested after traffic stop in Greene County – WGRV.com

A man and woman from Kingsport were arrested around 6:15 p.m. Saturday following a traffic stop by the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.

A deputy observed a motorcycle fail to stop at the intersection of Delzie Randolph Road and Erwin Highway. He initiated a traffic stop and the driver drove into Shanks & Shanks Market on Erwin Highway. The driver was identified as Ronnie Atencio and the passenger as Leslie Devotie. Devotie had a warrant out for her arrest for a probation violation. While the deputy was taking her into custody, she allegedly resisted arrest and had to be taken to the ground.

As the deputy was arresting Devotie, he saw Atencio reach up to the gas pump. The deputy detained Atencio and retrieved the items from the pump, including a glass pipe, a lighter, and a ziplock bag containing two doses of methamphetamine.

Atencio and Devotie were both charged with manufacture, delivery, sale or possession of methamphetamine. Devotie was additionally charged with resisting stop, search, detain, arrest or search. Atencio was also charged with possession of marijuana and charged with possession of a Schedule 6 drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.
