Vlahovic opens account in style

Vlahovic opens account in style

Juventus climbed to the top of Serie A with their second consecutive 3-0 win, this time at the expense of hosts Hellas Verona. Dusan Vlahovic broke the spell while Nicolò Savona crowned his first-team debut with a goal that doubled the Old Lady’s lead before half-time. After the break, Samuel Mbangula won a penalty that allowed Vlahovic to score a brace. So here are our player ratings for Juventus, who beat Verona with three unanswered goals and continue to enjoy life under Motta’s reign.

Juventus (4-2-3-1)

Michele DiGregory – 6

For the second game in a row, the former Monza goalkeeper barely had to break a sweat on his way to a clean game. However, he did manage to pull off a save towards the end of the game.

Nicolò Savona – 7.5

A brilliant debut from the young right-back, who had a goal disallowed early in the match, which proved to be an omen for a valid goal soon after. The right-back opened his Serie A account with a beautiful header that beat Lorenzo Montipo and was reliable at the back too.

Federico Gatti – 6.5

A calm and composed performance from Juventus’ substitute captain, who kept the ball rolling at the back.

Gleison Bremer – 7.5

While the Bianconeri made it look easy by dismantling their visitors. Verona would have had a lot more fun had the sturdy Brazilian not made a series of crucial interceptions. A beast of a defender.

Juan Cabal – 6.5

Another encouraging performance from the Colombian, who held his own against his former teammates, even if he gave his team some scares with poor passes in defense.

Manuel Locatelli – 7

A convincing performance from the former Sassuolo player, who was given permission to charge forward, testing Montipo early with a superb long-range effort and then winning the ball back which led directly to the first goal.

Nicolò Fagioli – 6.5

Aside from conceding a free kick in a dangerous position, the Juventus youth product looked calm and composed as he operated in a deep position and pulled the strings in midfield.

Andrea Cambiaso – 6.5

The Italian international started as a right winger but was able to move around the pitch and played a key role in the second goal. Not bad for someone who is playing in an unfamiliar position.

Kenan Yildiz – 6.5

The Turkish teenager set up Vlahovic’s opening goal with a simple but clever pass. He was involved in almost every move but would have loved to score himself.

Samuel Mbangula – 7.5

The young Belgian once again delivered a convincing performance. Although he did not get on the scoresheet this time, he provided the assist for Savona’s goal and then won the penalty for the third goal.

Dusan Vlahovic – 7.5

The Serbian is beginning to reap the rewards of his new Juventus team. Although he did not have many highlights, he made the most of the opportunities he had. He coolly finished the first goal to beat Montipo and then kept his nerve from the penalty spot. The Serbian has thus strengthened his candidacy for the Capo Cannoniere Rewarded by opening his account for the season.

After his appearance, the Brazilian showed his performance several times, but has obviously not yet reached his physical peak.

Pierre Kalulu – N/A

Jonas Rouhi – N/A
