Tesla pays Adam Gordon  million to build charging station in Queens parking lot – Commercial Observer

Elon Musk‘S Tesla paid $18 million to Adam Gordon‘S Wildflower for a 3,700 square meter parking lot in Maspeth, Queens.

Tesla picked up the lot at 48-26 54th Street by the entity Tesla US Property Holdings. The property will probably be developed into a charging station for electric vehicles, as Max de ZegherDirector of Tesla’s charging business, signed the contract for the car company, according to City archives published on Monday.

Gordon declined to comment. A Tesla spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment. It was unclear who brokered the deal for the two sides.

The deal, which was completed on August 16, was first reported by PincusCo.

In February 2020, Wildflower purchased half a block – including the Maspeth property – as a single tax lot at 54-20 50th Street for 23.3 million dollars, PincusCo reported.

Wildflower has a long history of locating in Queens. In March 2023, the developer secured $94 million in construction financing for its planned industrial site next to The New York Times Printing shop in College Point, Commercial Observer previously reported.

Wildflower develops the College Point Logistics Center at 28-02 Whitestone Expressway with its joint venture partner Drake Real Estate Partners and is expected to take over ownership in 2025, CO reported.

“We are very excited to be building at such an iconic location,” Gordon told CO at the time. “It’s an ideal location with access to New York’s major highways in an area where there aren’t many logistics locations.”

Also in Queens, Wildflower bought a 5.25-acre property in Astoria in June 2019 at 87 19th Avenuewhere there is a significant, 72,500 square meter film studio. Actor Robert De Niro is co-owner.

As for Tesla, the new sale in Maspeth comes after the company announced in April that more than 10 percent of the global workforcewith about 14,000 of 140,000 employees losing their jobs.

Tesla is hoping for more positive news: The new charging station in Queens will open next to neighbors like the utility company. SDIwhich signed a lease for 3,700 square meters at 46-35 54th Street in April 2016 and is still on the site, according to CompStak.
