PSG looks better without Kylian Mbappe

PSG have once again set the standard this Ligue 1 season, winning both their league games against Le Havre and Montpellier. The French champions scored six goals against Montpellier and four against Le Havre.

Although they haven’t faced the best opposition so far this season, it can only bode well that they have asserted their authority so early. Here at PSG Post, we consider whether Luis Enrique’s side play better without their talisman Kylian Mbappe.

PSG already has seven different goalscorers this season, a testament to how much Luis Enrique gets out of the team without the services of Mbappe. Unlike last season, the goal distribution is more even as it is not dependent on a specific player.

Bradley Barcola is the player who has flourished the most in Kylian Mbappe’s absence. In the two games he played, he scored three goals, which is remarkable considering he didn’t start either match. Barcola performed brilliantly every time he played for France at the Euros, especially in the semi-final against Spain, where he perfected all of his dribbling skills.

When the French captain was still at the club, the question of when he would move to Real Madrid was always raised. It is understandably difficult to focus on the league and European seasons when your star player is eyeing a move to the European champions.

With Mbappe’s departure, there is less drama on the club and less pressure as fans and experts do not expect much from the French champions this season.
