According to police: Video shows Amazon driver hitting woman with baby in stroller and then disappearing from the scene of the accident

MIAMI DADE COUNTY, Florida. – Recently obtained residential surveillance footage shows what police described as a hit-and-run by an Amazon delivery driver Thursday morning in northeast Miami-Dade.

According to police, Sarahy Parra-Ovalles, 45, of northwest Miami-Dade, struck a woman who was pushing her baby in a stroller in the Aventura Isles neighborhood in the unincorporated Ives Estates area.

Both the mother and the child were injured.

After the accident at the corner of Northeast Seventh Avenue and 191st Street, Miami-Dade police said Parra-Ovalles got out of her SUV, set up the stroller, picked up the baby and put the four-month-old baby back in the stroller before driving away.

The woman suffered a skull fracture, bruises and a brain hemorrhage, while the toddler suffered a laceration on the forehead, police said. Both were taken to Memorial Regional Hospital for treatment.

Authorities arrested Parra-Ovalles on Friday. He is accused of leaving the scene of an accident with or without serious bodily injury.

Amazon later responded in a statement that Parra-Ovalles “no longer delivers on behalf of Amazon.”

“This is a terrible incident and our thoughts are with this family. We are investigating the matter and will assist law enforcement with their investigation,” the spokesman said.

According to court records, Parra-Ovalles, a Venezuelan citizen, was later released on bail.
