Two historic sites in the Judson Mill District will see residential growth as the Westervelt and Jenny buildings add 181 loft apartments to the campus and are scheduled to open by June 2025.
The property at 701 Easley Bridge Road will see a 170,000-square-foot expansion next year following a $60 million investment by eight different cooperative and financial partners, completing the Judson Mill revitalization plan that began in 2019.
“The new residences will offer a blend of historic charm and modern amenities,” said Thomas F. Taft Jr., principal at Taft Family Ventures. “Residents will enjoy access to an array of shopping, dining and entertainment options within a short distance of downtown Greenville.”
The upcoming residential project in the Judson Mill District will offer a variety of floor plans, from studios to three-bedroom lofts, with leasing beginning in early 2025.

What two historic buildings are in the Judson Mill District?
Opened in March 1912, the Westervelt Building originally stood in the front part of the Judson Mill. It was essential for processing cotton into yarn. The Jenny Building, also known as the “Twister Building,” played a key role in yarn production.
Both buildings were essential to the factory village known as Mill Crescent, a group of old textile mills in the western part of Greenville, in the early 20th century.
“Our goal is to preserve the heritage of these historic buildings while fostering a modern, vibrant community where residents can thrive and socialize,” said Ken Reiter, co-developer of Judson Mill. “This project represents the culmination of our vision for the Judson Mill District.”
