Why did Jade Cargill turn down her first WWE contract?

Jade Cargill has become a force to be reckoned with in WWE’s women’s division. Although she hasn’t made many singles appearances since her debut in the premier wrestling promotion, the tag matches are enough to do justice to her in-ring prowess.

Before she packed up her bags and moved to the Stamford-based company, Cargill was a feared face on the AEW roster. Even before she showed up at Tony Khan’s promotion, she had received a contract from WWE but decided to turn it down. What was the reason for that, you ask? Let’s find out.

In 2020, Cargill joined the ranks of the All Elite. Two years later, she appeared on the podcast, Talking is JerichoDuring a conversation with wrestling legend Chris Jericho, Cargill revealed that she had previously received a contract from WWE but had to turn it down.

“I came (to AEW), had experiences, and felt calm. I was able to call the owner of our company and talk to him. I wasn’t just a number. That made me feel good.” explained The StormShe revealed that she took part in a tryout in 2019 and was later offered a contract by WWE. She turned it down because at the time she felt AEW was more personal and authentic than WWE.

There is this unwritten ritual between AEW and WWE stars that they switch places if they don’t like the environment or the contract. Another star from the leading wrestling company recently landed at AEW.
