Players to keep an eye on in the 2024 season

With the 2024 OSAA high school sports season upon us, here are the Eugene-area volleyball players to keep an eye on.

Marist Catholic won its first state title in 24 years and finished with a record of 23-2 in Class 4A last year. Thurston had a record of 21-6 and finished third in Class 5A. Pleasant Hill finished with a record of 24-4 and finished second in Class 3A.

When league play resumes early next month and the playoffs begin on October 30, teams across the state will be looking to get back into the playoffs. All state championship games will be played on November 8 and 9.

The list includes players to keep an eye on in the Eugene area during the 2024 fall season.

Yana Tuioti, outside hitter, Sheldon, Jr.

2023: She had 46 aces, 200 kills and 240 digs.

Savannah McKibben, Libero, Sheldon, 2nd year.

2023: She had 33 aces and 308 digs.

Bailee Line, setter, Sheldon, Jr.

2023: She had 19 aces, 77 digs and 462 assists.

Cameron Pierce, setter, North Eugene, sr.

2023: Will be called up to the league’s second team.

Ava Brown, outside hitter, North Eugene, Jr.

2023: Received honorable mention throughout the league.

Rylee Bones, outside hitter, Churchill, Sr.

2023: Honorable mention all-league. Bones had 35 aces, 105 kills and 165 digs.

Jaedyn Bones, middle blocker, Churchill, sr.

2023: She had 17 blocks, 58 kills and 60 digs.

Nyah Mitchell, outside hitter, Churchill, Sr.

2023: She received honorable mention at the state level. She was selected to the league’s first team. Mitchell had 17 blocks, 26 aces, 191 digs and 230 kills.

Kiera Penland, right attack, Churchill, Sr.

2023: She had 33 aces, 69 kills and 131 digs.

Lubna Ward, setter, Churchill, Jr.

2023: She had 189 digs and 571 assists.

Giana Elgarico, outside hitter, Marist Catholic, Sr.

2023: Was named 4A Co-State Player of the Year and earned First-Team All-State honors. She had 19 aces and 88 kills. On defense, she had 93 digs and nine blocks.

Lauren Rohman, setter, Marist Catholic, Soph.

2023: As a freshman, she received honorable mention at the state level. She had 58 kills and 20 aces with a hit rate of 15. On defense, she had 80 digs and two blocks.

Avy Roundy, middle blocker, Marist Catholic, sr.

2023: She had 15 blocks, 17 aces, 45 digs and 48 kills.

Kegan De Lee, libero, Marist Catholic, Jr.

2023: She had five aces, 12 assists and 90 digs.

Cheyenne Green, outside hitter, Pleasant Hill, sr.

2023: Was selected to the All-State first team. She had 37 aces, 211 digs and 325 kills.

Claire Crawford, setter, Pleasant Hill, sr.

2023: Was selected to the All-State first team. She had 69 aces, 112 kills, 223 digs and 664 assists.

Ruby Jackson, middle blocker, Pleasant Hill, sr.

2023: She had 59 aces, 29 blocks and 211 kills.

Emily Krauss, libero, Pleasant Hill, Sr.

2023: She had 48 aces, 82 assists and 304 digs.

Anna Crawford, outside hitter, Pleasant Hill, sophomore.

2023: She had 47 aces, 195 kills and 195 digs.

Mariah Bailey, outside hitter, Cottage Grove, Jr.

2023: She had 43 aces, 154 kills and 317 digs.

Bailee Fournier, delivery clerk, Cottage Grove, sr.

2023: She had 27 aces, 42 kills, 179 assists and 252 digs.

Jocelyn Torralba, compositor, Cottage Grove, Sr.

2023: She had 28 aces, 229 digs and 346 assists.

Taylor Bennett, outside hitter, Cottage Grove, Jr.

2023: She had 49 aces, 216 kills and 361 digs.

Kali Williams, setter, Oakridge, Jr.

2023: She had 60 aces, 288 digs and 704 assists.

Bri Jones, middle blocker, Oakridge, sophomore.

2023: As a freshman, she received honorable mention at the state level. She had 24 blocks and 140 kills.

Alexa Hawkins, Libero, Oakridge, Jr.,

2023: Received honorable mention at the state level. She had 38 aces and 195 digs.

Vanessa Keller, outside hitter, Oakridge, Jr.

2023: She had 58 kills, 115 assists and 298 digs.

Braylee Ketch, outside hitter, Oakridge, sr.

2023: She had 26 aces, 46 kills and 102 digs.

Madison Thurman, outside hitter, Lowell, Jr.

2023: Received honorable mention at the state level and was selected to the league’s second team. She had 58 aces and 186 kills.

Aly Curry, outside hitter, Lowell, sr.

2023: Honorable mention at state level and award as second division player.
