Canva embarks on a wild creative journey with its Hysterical Historical Café

As an extension of its first brand campaign ‘Dil Se, Design Tak’, visual communications platform Canva underlines its commitment to making the platform truly local in India with a series of 12 unconventional commercials. “Hysterical historical cafe”a unique concept that is gaining widespread attention and recognition across the digital space, transporting Indian audiences to a quirky world. A setting where historical figures grapple with modern challenges while showcasing the limitless possibilities of Canva. The promotional films offer an innovative take on the brand’s user-friendly tools and everyday use cases in a quirky and entertaining way.

Set in an unusual cafe where different eras and civilizations collide, Hysterical Historical Café features interactions between notable characters from different historical timelines. From Christopher Columbus hastily editing photos with Magic Eraser, to the Wright brothers improvising a presentation with Magic Design, to a knight bringing his “metalhead” business idea to life with Magic Media, each promotional video highlights Canva’s innovative tools and shows how they can be used to achieve creative excellence. The humorous portrayal of these iconic figures navigating everyday situations creates a lighthearted and relatable narrative.

The campaign, designed in collaboration with OML Entertainment, playfully showcases how anyone, regardless of their background or expertise in design, can create stunning visual content on Canva. From individuals, solo entrepreneurs, content creators to small business owners and large enterprises, Canva is the go-to place to effortlessly bring their creative ideas to life while collaborating seamlessly. The campaign uses a multi-channel approach, including television, to engage a diverse audience consisting of consumers, professionals, businesses, students and creatives.

India has quickly become the fifth largest market for Canva and has seen remarkable growth in 2023.

Launched in 2013, Canva is a free online visual communication and collaboration platform with the goal of empowering anyone in the world to create design. The platform has more than 190 million monthly active users worldwide.
