New volume of poetry invites readers to reflect, fantasize and connect

Robert N. Britcher combines classic Japanese haiku with profound poems, helping readers explore both nature and the nuances of human life

GAITHERSBURG, Maryland., 26 August 2024 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Combining the ancient literary arts of poetry and haiku, author Robert N. Britcher offers insights into his talent in his new book, Haiku and Blue Mountain Poems.

The book is divided into two halves, with the first half consisting of traditionally formatted haiku and the second containing his collection of Blue Mountain Poems.

“I wanted to explore my intuition in print,” Britcher explained. “Inspiration is the fusion of experience, memory, art, including music, as poetry is a form of music, and a devotion to the act of writing and reading verse. Intuition is a mixture of inspiration, reason, and sometimes irrationality.”

Britcher’s goal is to familiarize or refamiliarize readers with haiku in the classical Japanese form. While traditional haiku are inspired by nature, Britcher brings his unique approach to the craft, drawing inspiration from human nature, events, and worldly affairs. He continues to explore these and other themes in his longer poems as well.

“Poetry is for everyone,” Britcher said. “People of all ages and from all walks of life can benefit from both reading and writing. Writing poetry is therapeutic, it allows us to slow down and reflect on the world around us and become more aware of ourselves and our emotions. Our words and grammar reflect what we see, hear, feel, imagine and do.”
