1. The 39-year-old Russian-born billionaire is the founder and CEO of Telegram with an estimated net worth of around $15.5 billion.

2. Pavel Durov’s journey began in 2006 with the creation of VKontakte, the Russian version of Facebook, which became the largest social networking site in the country.

3. In 2014, Pavel Durov left Russia after refusing to comply with demands to close opposition networks on VKontakte.
