SINGAPORE – The cost of taxis and rental cars will soon rise.
For example, the taxi company ComfortDelGro is introducing a platform fee of 70 cents per trip booked via the CDG Zig app from July 1, 2023.
The company’s June 19 announcement was one of several fare-related changes recently made by other taxi companies and ride-sharing platforms, including Gojek and Tada, both of which announced the extension of their temporary driver fees.
The one-off increases in distance and waiting time fares for taxi rides have also been extended for a further twelve months until 30 June 2024. These increases were first introduced in April 2022 to help drivers and taxi companies cope with the costs of the then sharply rising petrol prices.
Here are the changes to the fare-related fees that passengers can expect from each company:
Gojek
Platform fee from July 3, 2023: Amounts between 0.10S$ less to 0.30S$ more per trip, according to a tiered structure based on factors such as distance travelled and duration.
Extension of the driver fee from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024: 0.50S$ for journeys under 10 km and 0.80S$ for journeys over 10km.
Starting price for GoCar Premium from 3 July 2023: Increase by 0.45S$ per trip or 6.45S$ per trip between 0:00 and 05:59.
Starting price for GoCar XL and GoCar XL Kids from 3 July 2023: Increase by 0.30S$.
Ta-da
Platform fee: 0.55S$ for journeys up to S$18 and 0.75S$ for trips that cost more.
Extension of the driver fee from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024: 0.50S$ for journeys up to S$18 and 0.80S$ for journeys costing more than S$18.10.
