Lakewood consolidates departments to increase efficiency – The Suburban Times

To better serve customers and citizens and deliver services more efficiently, the City of Lakewood has merged two of its larger departments.

The Departments of Community and Economic Development and Planning and Public Works were merged this summer. Employees from each department are now all members of the Department of Planning and Public Works.

The director is Jeff Rimack, the assistant director is Angie Sliva.

This reorganization brings together the Planning, Public Works, Construction, Economic Development and Permitting departments, creating a more collaborative team. The merger is expected to result in improved processes and efficiencies, which will ultimately significantly improve the delivery of services to customers.

In the coming months, the new Planning and Public Works (PPW) Department will focus on improving customer information materials and applications. These improvements will lead to website updates, improvements to the City’s permitting processes, and more.

Through these efforts, Lakewood underscores its commitment to creating economic development opportunities within the city, supporting the provision of housing for all residents, and preserving and protecting the surrounding natural environment.

Look out for more information in the coming months as improvements are introduced and public education campaigns are launched to help people understand how to access information and services.
