A creative Minecraft player has used the game’s latest Snapshot update to build an impressive roller coaster made of mine carts and powered rails in his world, in a viral online post. Minecraft Roller coasters are an old tradition in the game’s long-standing community, allowing players to build long, sloping tracks on which to ride at very high speeds. However, they have evolved over time as powered rails and redstone engineering gained popularity, recently culminating in a new Minecraft Snapshot that removed the speed limit for minecarts.

Two Minecraft players share their strange two-dimensional underground base, which resembles a giant ant farm with helpful amenities.

Reddit user Impressive_Tip_8048 shared a video of a giant roller coaster they built Minecraft with the new Snapshot update, which allowed them to build a roller coaster that is much faster than ever before. Their video lasts over two and a half minutes and shows the player riding the roller coaster through his World in Creative Mode, traverses several of the biomes in Minecraft along the way.

A Minecraft player’s giant roller coaster is impressively fast

The roller coaster begins with the player being lifted high into the sky, seemingly to the height limit, before lighting some fireworks and dropping them quickly to the ground. Later, it even includes a massive jump between two sections of track, taking advantage of the snapshot’s removal of speed limits to gain plenty of airtime and fly across the gap.

Players were impressed with the roller coaster in the comments, expressing how much fun it was to build such fast tracks, but others mentioned the giant loop the player built and were seemingly disappointed that the game didn’t allow them to use it properly. Some players suggested a few new features Mojang could add Minecraft to solve the problem, such as sticky minecart rails on which the carts could be hung upside down.

According to the original poster, their impressive roller coaster took over six hours to build, most of which was spent planning and testing some of its key features like the jump to get it aligned and working properly. In any case, the player’s effort was worth it, as his post received over 10,000 upvotes and will go down in history as one of the most impressive roller coasters that players have ever seen in the new Minecraft Snapshot.
