I find it to be one of the harder NYT puzzles, but the challenge is satisfying and rewarding when it pays off. If you are looking for a BLESSING, this category is full of them. Or at least this category is full of Words that have at least one meaning that denotes the official sanctioning of a person or something. It was actually a bit difficult to find another word for the above clues, simply because the first synonyms that came to mind were all already here. It’s nice to see that I was at least able to spot the easy one first, because normally I tend to make everything much harder than it needs to be.

I really think it should be called “Donut-Shaped,” but so far the editors have not taken my suggestions into account. It is scientifically a torus shapeDonuts are much more fun and I think they sound much better. But they make me hungry.
Likewise, BAGEL and LIFESAVER are designed to make me hungry, although I wouldn’t try to eat a rubber tire or a wreath even if a real one was technically edible.

It would have taken me ages to figure out the name of the category. I have very little golf knowledge and most of the terms I know are more like birdie or eagle. I could have guessed that a WHIFF is a bad shot in almost every sport but I didn’t know it was an official term. If it is, I have to trust it Connections and they didn’t take the opportunity to use “donut” so I’m not sure if I can do that anymore.

This category was easier for me personally than the previous one, but that’s probably because of my grandmother’s shoe obsession. It was easier to recognize words that were all at least close to a shoe product, so I could better understand the connections.
With any luck, there was also someone in your life who was obsessed with shoes and could help you with this question. I probably should have found someone who was obsessed with golf.
