With the advent of connected technologies, Yamaha has been looked down upon for not offering them on its motorcycles. Now Yamaha has launched some pretty impressive Bluetooth technology that seems to offer a lot more than expected. Let’s take a look at what the Yamaha FZ-S Bluetooth system has to offer.
Main features
The Connect X app, available for Android and iOS, allows you to control these Bluetooth-enabled functions on your bike.
Reply back
This makes the bike honk and the indicators beep like a car. This is a good feature that helps locate the bike. It seems to be a bit of a gimmick, as you have to be within Bluetooth range to trigger this signal.
E-Lock
This is an anti-theft system that is activated via a smartphone with an app installed. We would like to say that they should have included a key that works via IR to trigger all these functions. This would have increased the practicality of these systems.
Locate my bike
The indicators light continuously for 10 seconds.
Hazard warning lights
Although the Yamaha FZ-S doesn’t have a hazard switch, you can now turn on the bike’s hazard lights via the app. It’s a bit of a shame that you need a phone to do this, but it’s still good to have one available.

Parking record
When the bike is connected to the phone, it uses GPS to track the location of the bike. It also provides a route map to that location. This is really good for people with a bad memory.
Price increase
Yamaha FZ-S Bluetooth is only available on the Dark Knight Edition. If you own the latest generation of the FZ-S, you may be able to upgrade to these systems as well. Contact your dealer for more details. The FZ-S Dark Night is priced at Rs. 1,077.00 (ex-showroom, New Delhi) as of November 1, 2020.
