The goal was always to turn on Toni Storm

The goal was always to turn on Toni Storm

Mariah May always planned to attack Toni Storm and her match at Wembley Stadium is only a plus

Following her victory at the Mae Young Classic earlier this year, Mariah May brutally attacked her former partner, leaving Toni Storm bloodied and bruised on the catwalk and injuring her with her own white high heel.

This marked the beginning of one of the most heated feuds in wrestling and has become the most anticipated match ahead of AEW All In on Sunday.

Mariah May appeared on Wrestling with Freddie. She spoke to Freddie Prinze Jr. about her plans to turn against Toni Storm.

She admitted that she didn’t know it was going to be a game at Wembley Stadium, but just did it because her goal was to hit on Toni Storm.

The British star noted that Toni Storm was a huge star in the UK. She was always the “top target” for every wrestler and she wanted to follow in her footsteps.

“It’s funny, and I wouldn’t say I turned against Toni. No, no, that was always my plan. There was no turning back from my side. And no, I didn’t know it was going to be Wembley. I didn’t know it was going to be the World Cup. For me, the target was always Toni Storm.”

“I’m from the UK. Toni was the best goal in the UK. If you list some of my awards, Toni Storm’s in the UK would be three times as long. And when I started training, Toni was always the best goal.”

“She always really wanted to be in the UK and Europe and then of course she became a star and she did pretty much everything you can do as a star. So for me she was really the blueprint that if I wanted to be a successful wrestler and make it out of the UK – which was always the goal because the UK sucks – I had to follow in her footsteps.”

Mariah May says Wembley is a nice addition but not the destination

Mariah May continued, revealing that her match with Storm in her hometown was a “beautiful addition” to the feud.

However, that wasn’t part of her original plan. When Tony Khan announced that the winner of the Owen Hart Cup would get a title shot at All In, she knew it was time to put her plan into action.

“When the opportunity came up to go to AEW and be there – I’ve never really been in the same company or presence as Toni Storm. I’ve always watched her more from afar. So it was time to take this opportunity to follow in her footsteps and get as close to her as I could to actually be in the same company as her.”

“And the fact that it’s Wembley, the fact that it’s my hometown and it’s our biggest stage at All In is a nice addition. But that was never part of my original plan. That kind of came to mind when Tony Khan announced that the Owen Hart Foundation was going to Wembley and then I thought, ‘Okay, this is where I’m going to end Toni Storm’s career.’ I could have done it on a Dynamite. I could have done it on Collision. Hell, I could have done it on Rampage. But the fact that I could do it on our biggest stage and finally put her out to pasture – I just couldn’t match that.”
