Filming on “Batman 2” will begin in 2025, confirms screenwriter Mattson Tomlin

According to screenwriter Mattson Tomlin, filming for the highly anticipated sequel to Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” is set to begin next year. In a recent statement to the entertainment portal Screen RantTomlin expressed his excitement and awe for the project and stressed that there are high expectations for the sequel.

“Filming starts next year. We are preparing and I would say the bar couldn’t be higher. It’s a sequel to the first part. But Matt is also unique,” said Tomlin, looking back on his collaboration with director Matt Reeves.

Tomlin, who has worked closely with Reeves over the past five years, emphasized the director’s commitment to art in a demanding industry. “I’m so grateful for the time I get to spend with him because he’s a true artist working in a world where art sometimes can’t thrive, and he’s trying to create something that really matters.”

Tomlin’s excitement for the project is palpable. He described being part of the creative process as “pretty incredible, pretty awesome.” He also expressed his excitement for the upcoming film, saying, “Just being able to be there and be part of that process is pretty incredible, pretty awesome. I’m excited about the film.”

The first part of “The Batman” with an all-star cast, including Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot/Penguin, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, was a huge success.

The film grossed over $750 million at the worldwide box office, setting a high standard for its sequel.
