Liverpool will play their first Premier League game at Anfield under Arne Slot, with the Dutch manager looking to build on the promising start to his tenure.
Brentford are the visitors to close the second weekend of the league season, with both clubs looking to secure back-to-back wins. The Slot era began in great fashion last Saturday, with the new Liverpool head coach putting in a strong performance against Ipswich, making a couple of key tactical changes at half-time that helped secure a 2-0 win. The hunt for a new summer signing continues, but Slot has shown faith in his squad by reshuffling a couple of familiar faces to get the best out of his existing group.
Thomas Frank’s side also got off to a flying start with three points, as Bryan Mbeumo and Yoanne Wissa again showed they can step in in the absence of Ivan Toney. The English striker looks set to be on the verge of being left out of the squad against Crystal Palace, although no contract has been agreed yet. Brentford have, however, signed a second summer signing from their hosts, with Sepp van den Berg following Fabio Carvalho to London from Merseyside.
