How to Play NYT Connections: A Step-by-Step Guide
NYT Connections is a challenging and exciting game that tests your ability to recognize and group related words based on themes or common characteristics. Here are detailed step-by-step instructions on how to play the game:
Step 1: Open the NYT Connections app or website
- Then click the “Play” button and you will be taken to the main game window.
Step 2: Evaluate group words
- You will see a 4×4 grid with 16 words. Each word belongs to one of four groups based on a specific theme.
- Read the words carefully and think about how they might be related. These connections are usually more specific than just general categories like verbs or nouns; they can include thematic or conceptual links.
- Once you’ve found a group of four related words, tap or click each word to select it. The words should be highlighted once selected.
Step 3: Submit and continue playing
- After you select a group of four words, tap or click Send to confirm your selection.
- If your grouping is correct, the words will be grouped under a colored marker that indicates the difficulty of the connection (from yellow (easiest) to purple (most difficult).
- The label also contains a description of the group topic.
- If the grouping is wrong, the words will not change and you will lose one of your chances. Remember that you only have a limited number of attempts.
- If you get stuck, you can use the Rearrange button to rearrange the words in the grid. This may help you discover new possible connections.
Step 4: Show results
- Once you have grouped all the words correctly or exhausted all your attempts, the game displays your results in a table that reflects your performance in each round.
- Each row in the results grid corresponds to a round and shows the difficulty level of the words grouped in that round. If mistakes are made, the row will be shown in a different color at the point where the mistake occurred.
- Below the results, a timer shows how long you have to wait before you can play the next game. There is also a “Share Results” option that allows you to copy your results to the clipboard for sharing.
- To review the puzzle and the correct answers, you can click “Back to Puzzle”. If you want to see the results again, click “Show Results”.
I hope this article helps you to play and solve your NYT Connections game without any problem.
