After Kyiv launched its surprise counter-offensive on Tuesday, Russia was forced to evacuate parts of the Kursk and Belgorod regions in the face of advancing Ukrainian troops. So it was left to Stop the War – the most inept movement since Queers for Palestine – to embarrass itself again. One of the group’s useful idiots tweeted yesterday that “the escalation in Ukraine is terrifying,” adding in all caps: “STOP THE WAR.” Users were quick to point out that it was, er, Russia that chose to violate Kyiv’s sovereign territory in February 2022. As Tory leadership candidate Tom Tugendhat pointed out:
These so-called pacifists remain silent about Russia’s murder, rape and torture of civilians. They don’t want to end the war, they want our enemies to win.
