The nuclear power plant is being destroyed while we are building – Ablakwa rejects the claim that the parties are equal

North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has refuted claims that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) are the same party.

The MP and former deputy education minister said that “God, the clergy and the Ghanaian people” had been “deceived” by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Regarding the National Cathedral project, he said the government had demolished several buildings to build the most expensive hole in the world.

He spoke at the launch of the 2024 Manifesto of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Winneba, Central Region on Saturday, August 24, 2024.

He reported that “in the course of” realizing the president’s personal religious dream, “so many buildings were destroyed,” including, but not limited to, “the Institute for the Training of Judges, judges’ bungalows, the scholarship secretariat, the passport headquarters and the residence of the Malian ambassador.”

“Have you ever heard Mahama say that he woke up with a nightmare and that is why he decided to make a personal commitment and put $58.1 million into the most expensive mine in the world?” asked Ablakwa.

He described Mahama as a nation builder who during his presidency built “the University of Ghana Medical Centre, Ridge Hospital, Shai-Osudoku Hospital, Terminal 3 at Kotoka International Airport, Kumasi Airport, Tamale Airport, Ho Airport” etc. He compared him to the current president who “is tearing down and destroying everything with the false promise that he will not use our taxes”.

“How can you say that these two people are the same and that these two parties are the same?” Ablakwa asked admonishingly. The notion that the NDC and NPP are the same is “baseless and unfounded,” he stressed. “The NDC is different.”
