NAB customers kicked out of their bank accounts due to “technical problems”

Thousands of customers reported problems with internet and mobile services after National Australia Bank experienced major outages for the second time in just a few months.

The number of user reports to Downdetector increased rapidly around 4pm (AEST) on Thursday.

Within 30 minutes, more than 1,900 complaints were received about NAB, one of Australia’s four major banks.

Customers also raised issues with their services via social media.

One customer reported having trouble loading account balances using the NAB app and another wondered if NAB’s internet banking had been “hacked.”

“I’m calling for a new version of online banking, but it doesn’t work,” they said on X, formerly Twitter.

Another person said, “Hey, it looks like there are problems with your mobile banking.”

Another customer described that logging into online banking was “really slow” and that once you logged in you were “immediately kicked out”.

In an update around 6:40 p.m., the bank said its systems had been repaired and were functioning normally.

NAB had previously pointed out that the outages were due to “technical difficulties”.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to our customers,” a spokesperson told 7NEWS.com.au.

“Our engineering team is currently investigating the issue and working to resolve it as quickly as possible.”

In early July, NAB experienced serious problems: users were unable to access their accounts for several hours.
