The annual “Dream Ride” takes over Farmington

FARMINGTON, CT (WFSB) – The annual Dream Ride took place on the streets of Farmington Saturday afternoon.

People from across the state and country came to raise money for the Hometown Foundation, which benefits the Special Olympics, and to celebrate the athletes and their achievements.

Even more excitement was in the air when it was announced that YouTube sensation Mr. Beast had a special surprise planned.

Motorcyclists and car enthusiasts from all over the country presented their vehicles and drew attention to the cause to the applause of the crowd.

Athletes from the Special Olympics also traveled with them and were all extremely enthusiastic.

For many, this was an annual tradition.

“I actually started when this was just a one-day festival. Maybe a handful of 20 motorcycles and a handful of cars. The best part is just sitting here and watching the athletes waving. That’s the best part,” said Sean Healy, a Vernon resident who volunteers at the event.

After the ride, the athletes were honored with a red carpet and medals.

“We come here every year to see the cars and the festivities, and we love watching the parade. The good cause it’s for and how much money it raises. It’s just a great experience,” said David Hill of Farmington.

As a special surprise, it was announced that Mr. Beast has partnered with Play Shifu, an Indian company that has provided each athlete with an interactive globe.

“It’s just wonderful to be part of such a community. I absolutely love it,” said athlete Raymond Weise.

When our teams asked Dreamriders to comment on the event’s attendance, they wanted to convey a message that offered a possible glimpse into the future.

“I’m glad you came out and supported us. Tell everyone you know so we can get more people and sponsors. These cars are all really cool and really beautiful,” said Global Ambassador Ashley Lavoie.
