Today’s Connections Answer – Tips for Solving
Unlike our guide to today’s Wordle answer where we recommend the best Wordle seed words as a strategy, solving Connections relies on identifying categories of connections among 16 words. The difficulty level of each category is represented by a color; yellow is the easiest grouping and purple is the most challenging. Once you make 4 mistakes in your guesses, the answers are revealed, so hints can be helpful.
If you need hints on how to solve the groupings, you can find the topics of the individual groupings here, sorted by difficulty level:
- 🟨 Yellow: Angry
- 🟩 Green: Status
- 🟦 Blue: Words that form the acronym “HVAC”
- 🟪 Purple: Activities that involve wrinkles
These clues should give you at least part of the answer to today’s Connections question. If not, you can read on for bigger clues. If you just want to know the answer, keep scrolling down.
Here is a bigger hint: Keep a cool head and don’t let today’s puzzle unsettle you, even if you have to work hard to make connections in some of the word games.
Today’s Connections Answers
So what are today’s Connections answers for game #441?
Drum roll, please…
- 🟨 Fox devil wild: Boiling, smoking, pale, steaming
- 🟩 Status: position, rank, station, station
- 🟦 Words that make up the acronym “HVAC”: Air conditioning, heating, ventilation
- 🟪 Activities that involve wrinkles: Baking, laundry, origami, poker
I started today’s puzzle with the yellow category, but not after failing once with the blue one. When I realized that heating has nothing to do with cooking or smoking, I thought maybe I shouldn’t take some of these clues so literally. When I started thinking about some of the other hyperbolic words we use to describe anger, “angry” and “steaming” came to mind.
Next came the blue category, which was easy since I now knew that “heating” was the outlier among all those red-hot clues.
Then came the purple category. I picked up baking, laundry, and origami pretty quickly, but I had trouble with the fourth one for a while until I remembered that “folding” has a less literal meaning in poker.
Green then became a routine filling.
Yesterday’s Connections answers
Are you reading this in a later time zone? Here are the Connections answers for game #440, which had a difficulty rating of 2.4 out of 5 according to the Connections Companion.
Finally! After a week of struggling with level 2 puzzles and level 3 puzzles, yesterday’s puzzle was a 2 and it went smoothly. You have to take the wins when you can get them.
Anyway, I started with the yellow category today as I saw rumblings and whispers first, followed by speculation and talk. This was after I briefly tried to piece together some talk, Latin and jargon, but I abandoned that idea.
I was in the middle of putting together a cheap connection with Budget, Steal and Thrifty when I suddenly realized I was looking at car rentals at Enterprise and National. Sometimes your brain surprises you.
Today’s green category could easily have been a yellow one, but crawling, slipping, stealing and tiptoeing are all stealthy movements.
Personally, I rarely delete a letter or part of a word to find another connection, so it’s always a relief not to get strikes when I try to move bad connections into other groupings.
Today’s violet colors are the chemical elements: Env (iron), J (argon), La (tin) and P (lead).
