Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna have been married for over two decades. Their relationship, marked by quirky humor and mutual respect, often catches the attention of fans and media alike. Recently, while promoting his upcoming film, Khel Khel MyIn an interview with Galatta India, Akshay Kumar spoke about the dynamics of his marriage with Twinkle, who is not only a successful author but also a completely different personality from him.
Akshay Kumar says there is a world of difference between him and Twinkle Khanna: “My wife tells a producer that the film is crap and I tell her not to do that…”
Akshay Kumar opened up about the differences between him and Twinkle. “My wife and I are very different. We are fundamentally different. She thinks left, I think right,” Akshay revealed. Despite these differences, the couple has found a way to make their relationship work, stressing that it’s not about having everything in common, but rather about mutual respect and understanding.
“Our only commonality is that we both love to sleep early and wake up early,” Akshay said. He also mentioned their love for simple activities like playing rummy or ludo together. However, he was quick to point out that these similarities are not the foundation of their strong bond. “It’s important to give each other space. There are 36 traits in humans that don’t necessarily all have to be present in a couple. But if you have that one trait of respecting each other, I think that’s equivalent to having all the traits you need in a relationship,” Akshay explained.
Akshay also spoke about how he and Twinkle handle communication, especially when it comes to voicing their opinions. He described himself as someone who prefers to stay silent and avoid unnecessary conflict, as opposed to Twinkle’s more outspoken nature. “I believe people should be silent. They should not comment on everything. Words can hurt you a lot. A word can hurt you more than a punch. Tongue can destroy relationships. It can start wars. You have to be very careful about what you say,” Akshay reflected.
The actor, who is often described as diplomatic, explained that his approach was intentional. “People call me diplomatic, well, so be it. I am diplomatic because I think about my words before I say them to anyone. I don’t want to hurt anyone,” he said.
Akshay compared his approach to that of Twinkle, who he describes as more direct and open. “My wife is quite open. When she sees a film, she tells the producer, ‘This is a shit film.’ And I always tell her, keep calm, don’t do that. I know she is telling the truth, but what is the point of hurting someone?” Akshay said. Akshay and Twinkle’s marriage, which began in 2001, has produced a close-knit family with two children, Aarav and Nitara.
While Akshay is preparing for the release of Khel Khel MyMarking Fardeen Khan’s return to the big screen after a 14-year hiatus, the film, which is scheduled to release on Independence Day, will be the actor’s third big film this year. It will see him starring alongside Vaani Kapoor, Taapsee Pannu and Ammy Virk. The film is expected to gross Street 2with Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor and Vedaa with John Abraham and Sharvari.
