Nico Paz: “I would like to thank Real Madrid for the trust they have placed in me”

Nico Paz has officially said goodbye to Real Madrid and its fans as he moves to Como for six million euros. He spoke modestly about the chance to play and score goals for the first team, ending his tribute with a nice “hope to see you again”.

This was the full statement posted on Paz’s social media accounts:

“Hello Madridistas,

After eight years of defending this jersey, it is time to say goodbye to this great club.

First of all, I would like to thank Real Madrid for trusting me all this time and for making my dream of making my debut and playing time with the first team come true, where I scored my first goal in the Champions League that I will remember for the rest of my life.

I would also like to thank all my teammates, coaches, fitness instructors, physiotherapists, doctors, kit managers and all the club staff with whom I have shared beautiful moments over the years and who have helped me become the person I am today.

And finally, I would like to thank all the Madridistas for all the love I have experienced during this time. A fan base that has made all this possible.

I hope our paths cross again! See you soon, Madridistas!

Hello Madrid!”

Although Paz was unable to secure a first-team place as he would have liked, he clearly made the most of his few minutes in the first team, scoring the winning goal in the Champions League and finally receiving the UCL winners’ medal, no small feat for a 19-year-old.

It was clear from the start that Paz was too good to remain a Castilla player and this move comes at the perfect time for him and his development as a footballer.
