Traffic stop leads to drug and weapons charges: North Olmsted police report

NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio –

Suspected drugs and weapons: I-480

On August 11, just after 3:48 a.m., an officer stopped a car on westbound I-480 after observing several traffic violations before the car entered the freeway from Great Northern Boulevard.

The officer found that both the male driver and his female passenger did not have a driver’s license. While searching the vehicle before towing it, officers discovered an unloaded revolver and a box of ammunition nearby. In a separate bag, officers found another firearm. The driver was prohibited from possessing a firearm due to previous convictions, the police report states.

While inspecting the contents of the vehicle, officers also found several plastic straws cut in half, including at least one with white residue. They found a lunch box with small plastic bags containing suspected marijuana and a black scale with white residue. A bottle of lactose supplement with an unknown white powder inside was seized. Several small bags containing an unknown white powder were seized. Officers also seized $174 in cash.

The containers containing the unknown white powder were sent to a lab for testing. A police report states the suspect was charged with possession of a weapon, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Bicycle theft: Greenflower Street

A resident reported the theft of a Trek bicycle valued at $800 from her garage at 1:19 a.m. on August 12.

On August 11, at 11:50 a.m., she left her house, leaving the garage door open. When she returned home the next morning at 1:15 a.m., the bike was gone and replaced by a Hyper mountain bike.

The missing Trek was described as neon yellow/green with a water bottle holder and green water bottle, as well as a zippered cell phone case. The owner did not know the serial number.

Theft: Great Northern Mall

On August 12, at 11:51 a.m., officers responded to the Foot Locker store where 14 items of clothing valued at $865 had been stolen.

A store employee said an unidentified woman hid the clothes in a bag and then left the store without paying for them. He provided officers with surveillance video of the theft. However, the woman was wearing a hat and her face is not visible in the video, the police report said.
