The return of the Boeing Starliner is delayed, NASA decides to have astronauts fly with SpaceX instead

There was an important development in an article the CBS12 News I-Team told you about earlier this month.

The Boeing Starliner capsule docked to the International Space Station will not return to Earth with the two astronauts it carried into orbit.

Instead, these two astronauts will fly home from Space X.

NASA says the agency needs a culture that puts safety and human life first after the two space shuttle disasters. Given the technical problems that have plagued Star Liner, reentry with two people on board is simply too risky.

This is a major setback for Boeing, the aerospace company that NASA had contracted to build its next-generation spacecraft.

The two astronauts will not be able to return home until next year. They have been on the ISS since June.

This announcement is the most significant space news in recent history and will have ripple effects on all future NASA missions.
