The Lions have one more warm-up game before the new season – and will play it for the first time at Ford Field.

On Saturday, the Lions will host the Pittsburgh Steelers at 1 p.m. This is the last chance for players on the verge of winning a permanent spot.

While many of the regulars will likely be on the bench, there are position battles to keep an eye on, including at quarterback. Nate Sudfeld and Hendon Hooker are both competing for the role of Jared Goff’s backup – but there have been hints recently that the team could keep all three.

Sione Vaki, who primarily played safety in college and also dabbled in offense, will be used as running back. The fourth-round rookie has shown flashes of his ability, but wants to prove his worth beyond the special teams.

Other points that all eyes will be on are the newly formed defensive backfield and the question of whether former UFL star Jake Bates can continue to impress as a kicker.

Bates developed into a star with the Michigan Panthers and impressed – including with the game-winning field goal against the Chiefs in the second preseason game.
