Fulham are on a roll in the English Premier League, beating Wilfred Ndidi’s Leicester City 2-1 at Craven Cottage on Saturday for their first win of the 2024-2025 season.

Alex Iwobi scored the decisive goal in the 70th minute when he outpaced Harry Winks and fired a low shot that went over the bar past Foxes goalkeeper Mads Hermansen after a pass from Antonee Robinson.

With Everton needing to balance their books, the Nigerian international was sold to Fulham last summer for a transfer fee of £22 million.

The playmaker’s impressive performances since arriving at Craven Cottage have shown that Fulham have done fantastic business in signing him.

Iwobi is experiencing a new upswing under coach Marco Silva at Fulham and has been involved in nine goals in a total of 35 league and cup matches (7 goals, 2 assists).

The Hale End Academy graduate has been under scrutiny for most of his stay at Goodison Park, with some fans questioning his consistency.

Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has been impressed by Iwobi’s improved form since joining Fulham and said he had struggled at Everton.

Speaking to Premier League Productions after Fulham’s game against Leicester City, Hargreaves said: “I think Leicester will struggle a little bit in terms of firepower. Iwobi is a very different player at Fulham to what he was at Everton, they struggled.”

“In this team they try to use him, Emile Smith, Rowe and Pereira, they are nice players.”

Fulham sit tenth in the provisional table ahead of their next Premier League match against newcomers Ipswich Town on Saturday 31 August.
