3 men arrested in connection with shooting in downtown Salt Lake

SALT LAKE CITY – Three men were arrested in connection with an Aug. 10 gang shooting in downtown Salt Lake City, police said Saturday.

Police said they were investigating a fight between known Norteno gang members at the On Top Lounge near 320 South State Street that occurred around 1 a.m. when they heard several gunshots near their location.

The exchange, which took place on State Street north of the district court, left a 24-year-old woman injured and a man in critical condition. “He is expected to survive and remains hospitalized,” police said.

Investigators say they are still trying to determine whether there is a connection between the initial fight and the shooting.

During the fight, witnesses saw a gun fall from the waistband of 22-year-old Raymond Gallegos, according to a police affidavit. Gallegos, of Ogden, was arrested for possession of a firearm while on probation.

A 32-year-old Taylorsville man, whose name was not released by police, was booked into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail the next day on “numerous criminal charges unrelated to the shooting.” He is suspected of involvement in the shooting and “criminal charges against him are pending,” investigators said.

On Friday, another Ogden man, 30-year-old Devin Bradley, was arrested after a search warrant uncovered “drugs, weapons and other possible evidence” from the Aug. 10 shooting, according to police. He was booked into the Weber County Jail, the news release said.
