Open Mic offers music at Wilkes Art Gallery

The Players and Poets Open Mic Night was held on Friday evening, August 23, at the Wilkes Art Gallery on C Street/Ward Nichols Way in Downtown North Wilkesboro. Above left, Andy Rhodes and Kevin Aita played several pieces on their guitars. Above right, WAG Director Brooke Horn welcomed visitors and gave an overview of the current exhibit, the Northwest Artists’ Exhibition, Minute: A Miniature Art Exhibition. Above left, Jim Trice played bass fiddle and sang, Andrew Triplett played guitar and sang, and Marty Absher played fiddle. At right, Trice, a WAG board member who hosted the event, also played a few songs and sang solo.

Left: Lori Burke, (center) Bryson Henninger and (right) Gary Booth played guitar and sang. The next Players and Poets Open Mic Night is scheduled for Friday, September 20. There will also be an opening reception on Friday, September 13 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. where visitors can view the work of Cindy Taplin, Lori Hill, Lucas Hundley and Nancy Brittelle. The opening receptions are open to the public and refreshments will be provided.
