The Academic and Grant Writing Enclave (AGE) has granted over 2,000 Nigerian researchers access to the N5 billion Naira National Research Fund (NRF) for 2024, designed to boost national innovation.

Researchers from 58 universities, 20 polytechnics, 11 teacher training colleges and 8 research institutes recently attended a training session to increase their chances of receiving NRF funding.

According to AGE, the impact of the training is far-reaching: over 13,000 participants have already been trained, 650 institutions are involved and the company is present in more than 80 countries.

The aim of AGE is to advance groundbreaking research

In addition, more than 400 professors, 6,800 doctoral students and more than 200 NGOs have benefited from the AGE programs.

Dr. Wadzani Dauda Palnam, Research and Development Director at AGE, highlighted the strategic investment in Nigerian research, which equips scientists with the skills to write compelling concept papers, increases their chances of securing funding, and addresses the country’s most pressing needs.

Professor Mohammed Aliyu Paiko, Vice-Chancellor of AbdulKadir Kure University, stressed the importance of a compelling concept paper in securing funding and praised AGE’s support in unlocking significant resources for researchers.

AGE’s efforts aim to advance groundbreaking research and cement Nigeria’s place in global academic and scientific innovation. The 2024 NRF grant cycle is expected to benefit from AGE’s initiatives.
