Parkinson Canada recognizes Living Better with Parkinson’s as a qualified and experienced organization to support the development and implementation of local health, wellness and education initiatives that directly address the unmet needs of people with Parkinson’s and/or their care partners.

This makes Living Better with Parkinson’s one of the first organizations in the province to receive a $7,800 CARE Fund grant.

This grant will support a new pilot program launching this fall called Mindfulness Meditation, or MBCT (Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy). At least 15 participants will benefit from the unique and powerful program led by Dr. Pat Rockman and Allison McLay.

“On behalf of the Living Better with Parkinson’s community, I thank Parkinson’s Canada for recognizing the value of supporting such an important program for people with Parkinson’s and their caregivers/partners in South Georgian Bay. Navigating the challenges of living with a neurological condition can be overwhelming. Knowing that this pilot program will be made fully accessible thanks to the generous support of the CARE Fund is meaningful,” says Catherine Smart, Executive Director of Living Better with Parkinson’s.

The CARE Fund initiative aims to improve the quality of life of people affected by Parkinson’s in diverse and underserved communities across Canada by providing them with comprehensive support, education and wellness resources.
