Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Saturday lashed out at the Congress party for entering into an alliance with the National Conference (NC) in Jammu and Kashmir for the upcoming assembly elections, saying the venerable party was trying to create anarchy in the country.
The Congress party and the National Conference on Thursday announced that all 90 seats in the Jammu and Kashmir legislative assemblies will be jointly claimed, saying that “they have reached a consensus on most of the seats”.
Reacting to the alliance, Chief Minister Yadav said, “This alliance shows whether the Congress supports the promise of a separate flag as per the manifesto of the National Conference. Does the Congress want to reimpose Articles 370 and 35A in Kashmir? It is very unfortunate that the Congress wants to create anarchy in the country by tying up with the National Conference just for votes. They want to talk to Pakistan again.”
“I hope that the Congress remembers all the things that have cost the lives of more than 40,000 people in Kashmir so far. Kashmir has today reached a new phase of development and wants to go hand in hand with the whole country, but the Congress wants to abolish the reservations of Dalits, Gujjars, Bakarwals and Paharis only for the sake of getting votes,” the CM said.
“Does the Congress want ‘Shankaracharya Parvat’ to be known as ‘Takht-e-Sulaiman’ and ‘Hari Parvat’ as ‘Koh-i-Maran’? Does the Congress want to create trouble for Baba Amarnath Yatra again? Because these were the reasons due to which the unrest continued in Kashmir. I hope the Congress should answer these questions,” CM Yadav asked.
He further claimed that the Congress had kept Jammu and Kashmir separate for a long time and the National Conference had played a major role in it.
“I hope that in the changing times of Kashmir today, the Congress will once again join hands with those anarchist elements for which Rahul Gandhi should be held accountable. I hope that parties have their limits in electoral politics, but the Congress should think about national issues. National Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge should think again why he had to side with the National Conference? The public wants to know,” he added.
