Ryanair passengers are no longer allowed to “fold clothes in their luggage”

Ryanair passengers have been told to stop ‘folding’ clothes to ‘save space’. Budget airline Ryanair has given fans and passengers packing tips and tricks ahead of the busy spring and summer season.

The budget airline recommends: “Don’t pack your backpack in a hurry. A little advance planning definitely pays off. Place heavy items in the middle of your backpack or as close to your back as possible – this will put less strain on your back when walking.”

Ryanair flies from Birmingham Airport as well as a number of other UK airports and transport hubs. The airline added: “Follow the golden rule of rolling your clothes rather than folding them.”

Ryanair, whose competitors include Jet2, TUI, Easyjet and others, said: “Not only will this give you more space, it will also reduce the amount of wrinkles in your clothes. When checking in, tie all backpack straps together carefully so they don’t get tangled in the baggage carousel after landing.”

It continued: “Don’t keep all the space in your luggage for yourself, especially if you’re travelling as a couple. Divide your clothes between two pieces of luggage in case one of them gets lost in transit.” And the airline, headed by Michael O’Leary, continued: “Don’t waste unused space – roll your clothes instead of folding them.”

“They wrinkle less and you have a lot more room in your luggage for all the extras you take with you on the go.” According to the latest version of the airline rankings by market capitalization, Ryanair is now the largest airline in the world measured by market capitalization.

A look at the last minute cancellation rates (within 24 hours of departure) shows that Ryanair is significantly more reliable than EasyJet. Ryanair’s cancellation rate was 0.5% – significantly lower than EasyJet’s 1.3%.
