District road improvement project to create 400 jobs in Upper East Region – Minister

Upper East Regional Minister Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih has announced that the District Road Improvement Project (DRIP) will create 400 jobs in the Upper East Region.

According to him, 30 people will be employed in each of the region’s 15 districts to operate the DRIP equipment, creating a total of 400 jobs.

In this context, he commended President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his exceptional and forward-looking leadership in the implementation of the DRIP project.

He stated that in the Upper East Region alone, a total of 117 pieces of equipment were received, including 15 backhoe loaders, 15 dump trucks, 15 bulldozers, 15 graders, 15 water tankers, 15 rollers, 6 wheel loaders, 3 bulldozers, 3 low loaders and 30 concrete mixers, making a total of 117 pieces of equipment.

He stressed that employment opportunities are available to all Ghanaians, not just those living in the region.

Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih announced that a committee of the Regional Coordinating Council will monitor the project to ensure proper implementation.

Mr. Maxwell Mba Ayipaala, the Regional Acting Coordinator of DRIP and representative of JA Plant Pool, a member of the Jospong Group, assured the public that regional and district coordination committees as well as mechanical workshops will be established.

They would take care of monitoring, maintenance, fuel supply and repair of the equipment, with spare parts readily available in the region, he explained.
