She never reprised her role in the production, as she not reopened at the August Wilson Theatre, nor did she appear in the 2024 film version of the music conducted by Rapp.

During the interview with Dimoldenberg, Carpenter also opened up about what she did on Valentine’s Day this year — “I got chocolate as a gift and I ate it… that was my day” — though she didn’t say whether she spent the holiday with boyfriend Barry Keoghan. She did, however, explain that she doesn’t fall in love as easily as she did when she was younger. “Now I fall in love a little more — I don’t want this to sound sad, but maybe I just fall in love with a little more knowledge,” she said.

At the end of the video clip, Carpenter helped Dimoldenberg write an X-rated rhyme to the line “Went to London ’cause I had a hot date,” in the style of her famous “Nonsense” outros. “I would have done something really crazy,” she said, “but I don’t think I can say it on camera.”

Speaking of “Espresso”, Carpenter dealt with Chicken Shop Date whether she actually enjoys drinking the concentrated caffeinated beverage in real life. “Yes, I do – I just have to get through it when I drink it,” she told Dimoldenberg. “It’s not that I like it because of how it tastes – I like it because it makes me feel a certain way.”
