Few expected Alex Pereira to defend his title again.
The Brazilian star will defend his UFC light heavyweight belt against Khalil Rountree in the main event of UFC 307, set to take place on October 5 in Salt Lake City. Accompanying this 205-pound title fight will be a women’s bantamweight championship bout between Raquel Pennington and Julianna Pena as the co-main event of the card.
So did Rountree deserve to challenge Pereira, or should the UFC have waited and given Magomed Ankalaev a chance? Should the UFC have chosen Kayla Harrison as Pennington’s next opponent?
