Tensions are rising between Ugandan socialite Zari Hassan and her husband Shakib Cham Lutaaya after Diamond Platnumz unexpectedly showed up at their South African villa to celebrate their daughter Tiffah’s 9th birthday.
Diamond, the father of Zari’s daughter, traveled to South Africa to surprise Tiffah as she celebrated her ninth birthday on August 6, 2024.
However, Shakib is bitter and frustrated with Zari for hosting her ex-partner without his knowledge, raising serious doubts about the trust and transparency in their relationship.
Given Shakib’s frustration, Zari addressed the issue on social media, claiming that his reaction was based on unfounded insecurity.
She stressed that she had no knowledge of Diamond’s visit and was as shocked by his presence as Shakib.
Zari clarified that the surprise was exclusively for her daughter, who had expressed a strong desire to see her father on her special day.
Shakib’s reaction, however, was violent; he is said to have called Zari several times during the event to enquire about her whereabouts.
Zari expressed her disappointment over Shakib’s lack of trust and narrated how he accused her of having feelings for Diamond.
She strongly denied these claims and insisted that her relationship with Diamond was purely co-parenting.
“I’ll tell you something: If I want to go back to Diamond, I can come back. If Diamond wants to go back to me, he can come back. But we’re so over each other. I don’t want him, he doesn’t want me; I have a husband, he has a girlfriend,” Zari explained.
Zari emphasized the challenges of co-parenting and reiterated that she cannot and will not separate her children from their father.
She expressed her anger over Shakib’s insecurities and stated that they were gradually affecting their marriage.
“But my husband is very insecure and that causes a lot of problems. I have to explain to him, ‘Oh, I didn’t do that,’ ‘Oh, it wasn’t like that,’ really! I had to do a concert just to prove something to my husband,” she said.
Zari urged her husband to appreciate her worth and stop exposing her to his insecurities.
“I, Zari the boss, am a millionaire, I am intelligent. I can be with anyone I want but I chose my husband and I don’t care how you guys see him, ‘Oh he’s broke, he’s not good enough.’ I chose to be with him but he has to get me through this. Aiii my husband you better change, my husband you better realize…” she noted.
The 43-year-old mother of five gave Shakib an ultimatum and promised to leave him if he did not overcome his insecurities.
“If my boyfriend doesn’t want to recognize who I am… shame. I will definitely find someone who recognizes my worth because I am worth so much more.”
“I love love and everyone knows that when I love, I am faithful. If you don’t realize that, that’s just the way it is,” Zari concluded, noting that her happiness and self-esteem are her top priorities.
Holding hands
Earlier this year, Zari and her husband clashed again after a video was shared online showing her holding hands with Diamond.
In an interview with the press, Shakib said he felt disrespected by his wife’s decision to hold hands with the Tanzanian baby daddy.
In a telephone interview with Millard Ayo TV, Zari spoke about the video of Diamond holding hands that sparked a storm of outrage.
She reiterated that the video was intended to promote Diamond’s new song “Mapoz”.
The Ugandan celebrity apologized to her husband for making him feel disrespected by holding Diamond’s hand.
