LGBT YouthConnect program at the Hudson Pride Connections Center in Jersey City

LGBT YouthConnect program at the Hudson Pride Connections Center in Jersey City

Every Friday – 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Hudson Pride Center’s YouthConnect program provides LGBTQ+ youth ages 13-24 with weekly programs that support healthy community building, peer-to-peer connections, and collective/individual well-being and empowerment.

Through this program, queer youth have access to events, workshops, and support groups built around the following themes: community care, self-love, edification and appreciation of individual/collective strengths, mental health awareness/support, learning leadership skills, acceptance and appreciation of diverse racial/cultural/intersectional identities, exploring gender and sexuality beyond the binary, inclusive safer sex education, and self/community empowerment through creative arts, writing, and self-expression!

YouthConnect also provides direct 1:1 support to help youth in Hudson County access LGBTQ+ affirming mental health services, emotional/mental/physical wellness resources, referrals for substance abuse treatment and care, legal aid resources for advocacy and protection of undocumented youth, links to suicide prevention/crisis support resources, and links to HIV/STD testing and PrEP services/counseling through the Hudson Pride Center. Trans support services are also offered for youth needing access to HRT, letters of support, referrals for gender reassignment surgery, and assistance with legal name/gender registration changes.

YouthConnect meets every Friday from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Center. Youth are encouraged to come after school to mingle and socialize before more structured programs begin.
