If you’re making a quick trip to ALDI to stock up on supplies for your Labor Day celebration, you might want to hit the brakes.
Before you start looking for inexpensive snacks and essential barbecue treats, find out whether your favorite discount store is open – or whether you already have a plan B in place for preparing for your party.
When is Labor Day 2024?
This year, Labor Day is celebrated on Monday, September 2nd.
While ALDI stores are closed on New Year’s Day, Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day, they are open on Labor Day.

Although ALDI will be open, store hours will be limited, as they are on Memorial Day, Independence Day, Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
ALDI is normally open from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. However, on Labor Day, most stores close two hours earlier and are open from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

What is Labor Day?
Labor Day is celebrated on the first Monday in September each year. It is a federal holiday that honors American workers and their achievements.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, its roots go back to the late 19th century, when union activists pushed for a holiday “to recognize the many contributions of workers to America’s strength, prosperity and well-being.”

And according to Glassdoor, amid reports of good pay and benefits, nearly 60% of current and former employees would recommend Aldi as an employer.

- Stay tuned for email updates.
- Expect a response within two weeks. If you are selected, an interview with a hiring manager will be scheduled.
All applications must be submitted online. Aldi does not accept applications in store.
It’s an ALDI thing
From the 25 cent deposit requirement for using a shopping cart to a low-priced product mix that consists of over 90% own brands and a healthy proportion of German goods, ALDI is admittedly a little different.
In January, the company announced that it would become the first major U.S. retailer to eliminate plastic bags in its more than 2,300 stores, helping to prevent nearly 4,400 tons of plastic from entering circulation each year.
Aldi currently has 216 stores across Florida. Five new stores have opened in the Sunshine State since the beginning of the year.
