Coco Gauff unveils personalized signature shoe ahead of 2024 US Open – NBC Los Angeles

Fashionista Coco Gauff strikes again!

The reigning US Open champion has turned her talents into fashion and design, collaborating with New Balance to create a signature shoe inspired by her favorite features.

Coco CG2, a newer version of last summer’s CG1, combines two bright colors – oxidized blue and firefly (yellow-green hue) – for a twist inspired by New York’s landmark, the Statue of Liberty, and the city’s glowing lights.

“I had a lot of fun designing and collaborating on the Coco CG2,” said Gauff. “My relationship with the New Balance team is incredible and I’m excited to see what people think of the evolution of this shoe.”

Gauff incorporated geometric patterns on the collar, heel and tongue to improve stability and flexibility on the court. This design choice pays homage to the architectural beauty of her favorite city, Paris.

Gauff’s signature is highlighted on the tongue of the shoes as well as on the back of the left shoe. The back of the right shoe reads “two,” which is meant to symbolize femininity as well as grace and power, according to the brand’s website.

A trophy is featured on the back of the shoe as the American champion looks to defend her title in Queens.

Gauff’s signature style is currently available in women’s sizes 5-12 for $159.99 and kids’ sizes 10.5-4 for $79.99.

For fans in New York for the US Open, the Coco’s Court pop-up event, which will focus on Gauff’s favorite pastimes, will take place on August 23 and 24. The experience includes free tote bag customization, games, candy and a photo booth, according to New Balance’s Instagram account.

In 2023, Gauff, then 19, became the youngest American to win the US Open since Serena Williams in 1999.

The third-ranked WTA player will be aiming for her second Grand Slam singles title when the tournament begins on Monday, August 26.

Coco Gauff describes how watching Carlos Alcaraz helped her smile and enjoy playing tennis more.
