FKA Twigs on reinventing The Crow for a new generation – Connect FM | Local News Radio

Lionsgate’s upcoming film adaptation of James O’Barr‘s classic graphic novel The Crow hits theaters Friday.

The stars of the revenge film It is Bill Skarsgard and actress-singer FKA Branches.

Like the comic and the original film, The Crow revolves around Eric Draven, who is murdered along with the love of his life, Shelly, after which he supernaturally comes back to life and avenges her death.

The 1994 original is synonymous with the tragic death of its leading actor. Brandon Lee: The only son of the legendary martial artist Bruce Lee was fatally injured in a gunshot accident on set on March 28, 1993. He was 28.

“When we say goodbye to the first Crow, we will suffer a great loss. First of all with Brandon Lee,” Twigs tells ABC Audio.

“But secondly, a great loss of the culture of that time in musical terms. And on the sensory level, on the street, things are very different. And even I often think to myself, ‘Oh, I wish I could have experienced what it would be like to go and see.'” The healing in concert or to live this romanticized version of what Gothic was back then. … It’s a great loss because it’s just not like that anymore.”

She continues, “But I think when I came into this new Crow, I really wanted to focus on what we gained, and that was really an incredible love story between Eric and Shelley.”

FKA puts it this way: “This love is worth fighting for and I’m so happy that the younger generations can feel that fire for themselves and have the kind of relationships they deserve, just like Eric and Shelly fought for the relationship with each other that they finally achieved and deserved.”
